Cowboys stop short of calling Murray a starter

Cowboys rookie DeMarco Murray ran himself into the record books and into a get-together with Tony Dorsett on Tuesday.

His 253-yard performance against the Rams on Sunday drew a series of tweets from Emmitt Smith, and so many calls and texts that more than 24 hours later he hadn't even checked them all.

There's one important thing his breakout effort has yet to do - earn him a spot in the starting lineup.

Dallas coach Jason Garrett said Monday that he and his staff haven't even discussed their lineup for the next game, Sunday night in Philadelphia.

While he wouldn't commit to Murray being out there for the first play on offense, Garrett acknowledged that Murray deserves plenty of more chances to carry the ball.

If he can come anywhere close to duplicating his last outing, all kinds of things could start changing for the Cowboys, who at 3-3 are only a game out of first place in the NFC East.
