ECU Cross Country Set to Open 2014 Season at MSU Stampede

The East Central University men's cross country team will participate in their first race of the 2014 season, Saturday, Sept. 13 in Wichita Falls, Texas. The Tigers will be at the 2014 Strohman Dental/MSU Stampede hosted by Midwestern State at the former Hawk Ridge Golf Course.

The 6K event is set to begin at 8:30 a.m., with the field including Texas A&M Kingsville and Texas Wesleyan.

The ECU men's squad heads into this weekend's race ranked No. 7 in the Central Region by USTFCCCA and was picked to finish second in the Great American Conference preseason poll.

The Tigers returns eight runners, including Cale Eidson who redshirted last season, but lead the Tigers the previous three seasons. Eidson claimed NCAA All-Central Regional honors in 2012 and added All-GAC honors in 2012 and 2011.

The roster also includes Will Baldwin, who led ECU in five of six races. Baldwin finished second individually at the 2013 GAC Championship and earned All-GAC First Team honors.

The Tigers will also be bolstered by six newcomers on the 2014 roster.
