The Battle of the 'Boros is a typically a big match up for both the Pottsboro Cardinals and the Whitesboro Bearcats, be it last year in the third round of the postseason, or this year in week 10.
"Since I've been here, it's been a big game, you know they're two communities that are close in proximity. And you know, probably all the players from each team know each other pretty well," says Pottsboro coach Matt Poe.
Some a little better than others.
"Actually my girlfriend goes to Pottsboro, and I know all those players there. Zane Pritchett and them, and they're great guys, fun to be around," said Whitesboro running back Jake Dyer.
The Bearcats ate 4-5 on the year, but have posted a 3-1 district record, while the Cardinals sit at a perfect 9-0, 4-0 in district. And this year, the Battle of the 'Boros will bear a little bit of extra importance, as the winner of this one will be crowned district champion.
"We want 5. Every year we've been in high school we've won it, so it's just tradition at this point, so we're going to go out there and do it again,"
said Pottsboro linebacker Questin Stumpff.
Both teams will have their hands full trying to stop the other offense. Pottsboro's got a high powered attack lead by Pritchett, while Whitesboro will rely on a ground game lead by Dyer. and who ever stops the other, will get to wear the district crown.
