The East Central University men's and women's cross country teams have been using the last two weeks to prepare for their next competition of the 2014 season, this time at the 2014 NCAA Central Regional in Wayne, Neb.
The men's team, who claimed their third Great American Conference Championship Nov. 8, will run a 10K course starting at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 22 at the Wayne Country Club. The women's team, who finished third at the GAC Championship, will run a 6K course at 12:15 p.m.
The Tigers will be running against the rest of the teams from the GAC, as well as teams from the Mid America Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
The top four teams from each race automatically advance to the 2014 NCAA Championship in Louisville, Ky., Saturday, Dec. 6. Individuals also have a chance to advance to the championship, with the top three runners that are not part of the advancing teams from each regional earning a spot.
ECU's men's squad is currently ranked No. 7 in the USTFCCCA regional polls, with two teams from the NSIC and four from the MIAA ranked above them.
