In the final match of the 2014 season, the East Central University volleyball team went out on top, earning a 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-19) sweep of Mid-America Christian in non-conference action.

The Tigers (6-24) were led by junior Sarah Simpson, who tallied 11 kills, five digs and two service aces. Freshman Madyson Gill hit .412 (8k-1e-17ta) and fellow freshman Madeline Mayer added a .455 (6k-1e-11ta) attack percentage.

The first set started in favor of MACU, as the Evangels jumped out to an early 0-4 advantage. However, the Tigers quickly responded and cut the deficit to one (3-4). ECU kept the pressure on and tied the set at nine, before again falling behind by three 9-12. The Tigers again regrouped and this time used a 7-2 run to take a 16-14 lead. ECU kept the pressure up and pushed through to a 25-19 win.

MACU again started out with an early 1-5 lead in the second set and it took the Tigers until a tie at 13 to gain the momentum needed to push the scoreboard in their favor. ECU used a 3-0 run to take a 16-13 lead. The Evangels fought back and tied the set at 16 and 17, but ECU then pulled away with a 6-0 run for a 23-17 advantage. That would be all they needed as they went on to win 25-20.

The Tigers took the early led in the final set and despite a few two-point swings in favor of MACU, held on to the advantage throughout the set and pushed through for the sweep with a 25-19 win.
