Errors Pave the Way for 4-1 Loss for 'Roo Baseball

The Austin College baseball team committed five errors and was limited to three hits, leading to the ‘Roos falling 4-1 at home against Ecclesia College on Friday night. The ‘Roos are now 4-30 overall this season with the loss.

The game was scoreless until the top of the third, when a pair of errors opened the door for a run by the Royals to make it a 1-0 game. That remained the score until the sixth, when Ecclesia plated three runs, with one of the three coming home on a throwing error from the outfield to make it a 4-0 game.

Austin College finally got on the board in the bottom of the ninth, with CJ Adame reaching after getting hit by a pitch and coming home on a throwing error that allowed him to score from second to make it 4-1. The ‘Roos would get the tying run at the plate in the form of Dylan Day, but he would fly out to deep right to end the game.

Blaine Tew took the loss for Austin College, surrendering four runs, two earned, on 12 hits in 6.0 innings of work. Hunter Wilson went 2-for-3, collecting two of the team’s three hits on the day.

Austin College and Ecclesia will play again tomorrow, with a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. immediately following Senior Day ceremonies at Baker Field.
