Former Grayson Vikings pitcher injured in drive-by shooting

Former Grayson Vikings pitcher Mike Nolan was shot in the head and chest in a drive-by-shooting in a Burger King parking lot in Yonkers, New York.

Nolan remains in critical condition and has been put in an induced comma. Doctors attempted to remove the bullet from his head in surgery without success. Doctors indicate that there is no brain damage.

Police believe that the 23-year-old Nolan was an innocent bystander for the crime. He pitched for the Vikings in 2012 and 2013 and is now a member of the Oakland A's farm system.

Nolan went on to play for Oklahoma City University after his two seasons at Grayson. He was picked in the 18th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft. He graduated high school in Yonkers.
