Austin College volleyball player Rachel Fusselman has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the week for all matches played from September 21-27, the league office has announced.
Fusselman, a senior libero from Trophy Club, was outstanding for the ‘Roos, totaling 133 digs against just six reception errors in six matches. The ‘Roos went 3-3 on the week, including a big win over SCAC rival Texas Lutheran to cap off the weekend, with Fusselman averaging 6.33 digs-per-set for the week. Fusselman had 20 or more digs in four of the team’s six games, including 33 digs in a win over Arlington Baptist.
Fusselman is also close to making Austin College history, as she enters this weekend’s matches with 1,954 digs for her career. The all-time Kangaroo record for digs in a career is 1,968, set by Adrienne Reynolds in 2012.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
