East Central University seniors Margaret Glutz and Kourtney Holleman have been honored by CoSIDA and Capital One as members of the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 7 Team. The pair are two of six players from the Great American Conference on the14 member team.
Glutz earned her spot on the squad by helping the Tigers defense that has blocked over 30 shots this season, including a season high of five in a single match. The Santee, Calif., native is also a standout in the class room, garnering a 3.91 GPA in Elementary Education. She has been named to the GAC All-Academic Team and the D2 ADA All-Academic Team, while helping ECU to three-straight NSCAA Team Academic Honors.
Glutz has also been named to the All-GAC First Team for three seasons, the 2011 GAC Freshman of the Year, a 2011 NSCAA Third Team All-South Central Regional and 2013 Honorable Mention pick.
Holleman is second on the team with five goals, and has been a key offensive factor for the Tigers in the past four years, scoring at least one match-winning goal in each season. Holleman has been just as diligent in the class room, earning a 3.92 GPA in mathematics. The Little Elm, Texas, native has been honored by the GAC in the past two season as a member of the All-Academic Team for her efforts in class.
All-14 team members of District 7, and members from the other seven districts, will now move on for the vote to become a 2014 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America selection.
