It's been a good year so far for the Lone Grove Longhorns. They're 6-1-1 after 8 games, but more importantly, they're 4-0 in district.
"I mean it's exciting. We worked as hard as we could this season and it just paid off," said senior Safety O'Shay Harris.
Now the longhorns are preparing for this weeks big test against the Marlow Outlaws, who also have and undefeated record in district. If the Longhorns can win this one, it will put them in the drivers seat for their first ever district title.
"Having an opportunity at winning a district championship is exciting to people. It's eluded our school for 43 football seasons, and our kids and the student body are just really excited about an opportunity to try to do that,"
The Longhorns are already in the playoffs, but will need a win over Marlow and a Sulphur loss to Plainview to clinch the title this week. If they lose or Sulphur wins, nothing will be decided until next week. But the Longhorns are just focused on this Friday's Halloween showdown.
We're going to have to be extremely focused during the game, we're going to have to be extremely intense. We're going to need to play hard, we're going need to play as fast as we can. And if we do that, we have a strong chance of winning," said senior nose guard Dillon Wilson.
Lone Grove and Marlow will do battle in Lone Grove this Friday at 7:30.
