Lone Grove Prepares for Round 2 Meeting with Meeker

After defeating Pauls Valley 62-28, the Lone Grove Longhorns move on to the second round of the playoffs for the second straight year.

Friday’s match-up has all the makings of an offensive shootout. Lone Grove is averaging 49-points per game, while their opponent, the Meeker Bulldogs, average 47-point a game.

"What we have to do is just be ourselves,” Lone Grove Head Coach Jeremy Turner said. “I don't want to change anything offensively based on another team's offense. I want to go out and do what we do night in and night out on offense and just be ourselves."

Coming into the season the Longhorns had high expectations, a state title, and that goal is still on the table.

“There’s only going to be two teams that get the opportunity to that and there’s only going to be one team that ends the season happy,” Turner said. “But we put our self in position to where we’re still fighting for that goal and we understand it’s a very lofty goal, but why would you set your goal on anything else.”

Game time is scheduled for 7:30 Friday evening at Lone Grove High School.
