NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma's Lauren Chamberlain is having fun while making history.
The senior tied UCLA's Stacey Nuveman for the NCAA Division I career record of 90 home last Saturday against Baylor. She will have several chances this week to break the mark, starting Wednesday at Oklahoma State.
She has enjoyed the spotlight during her chase, with big crowds and thousands of followers on social media paying close attention. She has more than 30,000 followers on Twitter and 42,000 on Instagram.
Chamberlain does more than crank homers - she's hitting .409 with 54 RBIs. She has scored 54 runs and has 44 walks in 43 games.
Chamberlain's teammate, returning All-American Shelby Pendley, said Chamberlain is "the greatest hitter in softball right now, and potentially the greatest hitter to ever play the game."
