Rock Creek wins title, Texoma well represented at state

The Rock Creek Lady Mustangs won three straight games at state to capture their first state title since 2006.

Rock Creek started the day with a 16-2 win over Maud in the state quarterfinals, before beating Stonewall 25-13 to advance to the finals. The Mustangs overcame an early 4-0 deficit to win the championship 8-7 over Binger-Oney.

"This group doesn't quit," said head coach Wade Johnson. "They have always competed. Win or lose they always leave it on the field, compete and don't give up. We talk about that. We are pretty young, just a couple of seniors, they just competed and kept hanging around."

Several area teams competed in the state tournament, including, Rock Creek, Stonewall, Soper, Healdton, Tushka and Tupelo.
