SE Finishes Seventh at Texoma Championship

Southeastern continued to improve on Tuesday afternoon, but slipped one spot in the final standings to finish seventh at the 2012 Texoma Championship held at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Resort.

The Savage Storm fired a final-round 304 on the 7,085-yard, par-72 course and finished the event with a three-round tally of 918.

The JV squad maintained its 12th place position after posting one of the largest improvements between second and third rounds for any team, posting a 310 in the final circuit to post a 958 for the event.

Greyden Blevins was the top SE individual, turning in a two-under-par 70 in the final round to finish with a 224 in 15th place.

Robert Perry carded a final round 75 and finished one stroke back with a 225 in 16th place.

Matt McIntosh remained consistent as well, carding a 77 in the final round and posting a 232 to finish tied for 30th.

Rick Hairgrove finished in 50th after a final round 83 put him at 239 for the event, while Jeff Hunter carded an 82 in the final round and finished one-shot back with a 240 in a tie for 51st.

Jackson Stuteville, competing as an individual, was SE's top finisher not on the varsity team, posting a final round 81 to finish off a tournament total of 231 to finish in 29th.

Joey Schroeder was SE's other individual and turned in a final round 80 to post a 238 and finish tied for 46th.

Seth Wheeler led the JV squad with an even-par 72 in the final round to post a 234 and finish tied for 38th.

Jay Ray, Carson Daniel and Will Wood each posted three-round totals of 243 and finished tied for 57th. Ray turned in a final round tally of 76 while Daniel carded a 79 and Wood an 85.

Sean Adams rounded out the SE competitors with a final round 83 to finish with a 262 in 74th place.

Oklahoma Christian wrapped up a three-peat with a final round 289 to finish with an 872 and win the tournament by 15 strokes over Southwestern Oklahoma State who turned in a 295 on the final day to post an 888 team score.

Northwood finished third with an 894 after posting a 296 on Tuesday, followed by Newman who moved from seventh to fourth after a final round mark of 291 and a team score of 906.

Paris JC shot 301 and finished with a 910 to finsh fifth, one shot ahead of West Texas A&M who carded a team total of 911 after a final round 303.

Arkansas Tech finished 11 strokes behind the Storm in eighth place after a final round 303 left them at 929 for the tournament.

Rogers State and Sterling rounded out the top-10 finishers, while Texas A&M-Commerce, the SE JV, Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas rounded out the tourney field.

The Bulldogs Taylor Howie won the individual title with a two-under-par total of 214 after a final round mark of 70. He was two-shots ahead of OCU's Hared Consoli who posted an even-par 216 after a final round 73.

OCU's Vilhelm Bogstrand finished in a tie for seventh after earning at least a share of the tournament championship in the previous two seasons.

Southeastern will be back on the course Oct. 15-16 when it travels to Cabot, Ark., to play in the Bison Fall Golf Classic at the Greyston Country Club hosted by Harding.
