SOSU Fifth in Preseason Poll

Southeastern volleyball opens the 2015 season picked to finish fifth in the Great American Conference Preseason Poll released Tuesday afternoon.

The poll is selected by a vote of the league's 12 head coaches.

Southeastern heads into head coach Brianna Barry's second season off an 18-14 mark a year ago which included a third-place finish in the GAC standings and the team's first postseason win, a 3-0 victory over Southern Arkansas in the GAC Tournament.

Arkansas Tech is the preseason favorite with 11 of the 12 first place votes, while Harding was picked second and received the remaining first place vote.

Southern Nazarene was third, with newcomer to the league Oklahoma Baptist in fourth just ahead of SE.

The Savage Storm finished just ahead of Ouachita Baptist in the poll, who was followed by Northwestern Oklahoma State, Southern Arkansas and Southwestern Oklahoma State.

East Central was picked 10th, with Arkansas-Monticello and Henderson State rounding out the poll.

Southeastern opens its 2015 season on Sept. 4-5 with a trip to Orlando, Fla., for the Rollins Invitational before opening the home portion of the schedule the following weekend with the South Central Classic Sept. 11-12.
