SOSU women announce basketball schedule

Southeastern women’s basketball coach Darin Grover has released the 2012-13 men’s basketball schedule which will feature an expanded conference slate with a pair of out of conference rivalry renewals.

The program is coming off an 11-17 season that did not live up to expectations, but did have a handful of bright spots including an upset victory over No. 1 seed and nationally ranked Arkansas tech in the first round of the inaugural Great American Conference tournament.

The Savage Storm will open the year with a Nov. 9 matchup on the road against Oklahoma Christian before opening the home portion of the schedule on Nov. 14 against Northeastern State (Okla.) in Bloomer Sullivan Arena, renewing what has been a very competitive rivalry in recent years despite it no longer being a conference contest.

SE will host OCU in a return trip on Nov. 19 before heading to Texas A&M-Commerce on Nov. 24 in its final game before the conference season.

The Storm will open conference play on Nov. 29 with a road trip to Henderson State (Ark.).

The Storm will end the conference portion of its fall season with a pair of home games on Dec. 6 against Arkansas Tech and Dec. 8 against Harding (Ark.).

Southeastern will host the final home event of 2012 on Dec. 17 when it hosts another out-of-conference rival in St. Mary’s (Texas).

The final SE athletic contest of 2012 will sneak in under the wire when the Storm head to Bartlesville, Okla., to face Oklahoma Wesleyan on Dec. 31.

Southeastern will get back on the court on Jan. 3 when it hosts Southern Arkansas.

The first rivalry meeting with East Central (Okla.) will come on Jan. 24 in Ada, Okla., with the home matchup coming on Feb. 28.

A pair of newcomers to the GAC lineup will join the rotation this year.

SE will face its first new opponent on Jan. 12 with a road trip to Northwestern Oklahoma State, the newest addition to the league, and NWOSU will come to Durant on Feb. 14.

The other new addition is Southern Nazarene who SE will host on Jan. 19 before paying a trip to Bethany, Okla., on Feb. 23.

The regular season will end with a March 2 road trip to Harding (Ark.).
