SHERMAN, TX -- The Sherman Bearcats enter week two of district play still searching for their first district win.
The Bearcats fell short against Prosper in their district opener on the road. This week they will look to use their home field and homecoming crowd as they take on a tough Lovejoy squad.
To make it a memorable homecoming night, Sherman's defense will need to slow down the Leopards Quarterback, Bowman Sells, who's committed to the University of Houston.
"I think you have to get him moving around throwing the ball," Sherman Head Coach Bill Patterson said. "You can't let him stand around in one spot and throw it. We've got to bring a little pressure and be able to cover a little bit and not just let him catch the ball and throw it on rhythm."
Coach Patterson sees improvement from his team each week and says they're getting closer to playing a complete football game.
"We look at the film on Saturday with our kids," Patterson said. "I think they look at it and see that we're one step away, one pass away, one run away, one tackle away from getting things going in a positive direction."
Sherman will take on Lovejoy on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium.
