DURANT, Okla. – For the third-straight week, Southeastern has maintained its hold on the No. 2 spot in the NFCA National Softball Poll released on Wednesday.
The Savage Storm are coming off a four-game sweep of Southern Arkansas that lifted the season record to 19-4 overall on the season and a 4-0 mark in Great American Conference play.
SE has closed the gap on No. 1 Valdosta State at 16-3 has 392 points, while the Storm have 382.
Southeastern also picked up three first place votes, while VSU has 10 of a possible 16 to hold onto the top spot.
The top three spots remain unchanged for the third week as well with West Texas A&M holding down No. 3 with a 14-1 record, 372 points in the poll and the remaining three first-place votes.
Indianapolis climbs into the top five at No. 4, leapfrogging Cal State-Dominguez Hills which maintains the No. 5 position.
No other GAC schools are ranked nationally, while two other schools in the Central region are in the poll.
Central Oklahoma checks in at No. 9 and Augustana is ranked 16th.
Southeastern will be back in action March 8-9 with a four-game series on the road against Henderson State with double-headers set for 11 a.m. both days.
