ARKADELPHIA, Ark – Southeastern dropped its first round matchup at the Great American Conference Tournament Final Four on Thursday night, 8-1 to Arkansas-Monticello in Arkadelphia, Ark.
The loss drops the Savage Storm to 29-24 and moves them into the elimination bracket where they will face Henderson State in a "win or go home" contest set for 1 p.m.
Dylan Helms collected two of the team's five hits, while Kaleb Thomas, Greg Husnander and Jake Perez picked up one apiece.
Tim Hunter drove in the team's lone run on a bases-loaded walk.
On the hill, Dylan Linke got the start and despite striking out all four outs he recorded, he took an early exit after 1.1 innings and absorbed the loss after allowing five runs on five hits.
Bryce Clemons followed with 1.2 innings in rleeif and allowed two runs on five hits with two K's.
Michael Brinska, Scott Richards and Scott Brinkley combined to toss the next three innings and allowed a total of one runs on five hits with a pair of strikeouts.
Cody Luman followed with a 1.1 inning outing with a pair of K's and no hits allowed, before Cory Scheibner finished the game off in two-thirds of an inning without allowing a hit.
The Boll Weevils scored in each of the first four innings, making its biggest impact in the second with four runs before eventually opening up an 8-0 lead after four innings.
The Storm would finally get on the board in the sixth after loading the bases with two outs when Tim Hunter drew a bases loaded walk to cut into the deficit to 8-1.
That was as close as it would get as neither team would get on the scoreboard again in the 8-1 Storm loss.
