The Murray State College Women’s Basketball team has a new member. Head Coach Justin Cellum has signed Sulpur High School stand-out Bailee Eldred to be an Aggie next season.
“Bailee provides us with another scoring threat on the floor and she can score in a variety of ways. Throughout her career at Sulphur she has had to fulfill a variety of roles. She has played the point, she has played in the post, and she has been the role player - she is very versatile.”
Eldred played four years at Sulphur under Head Coach Toby Todd. She will be the third player to come to MSC from the 2013 State Championship team. Tierani Richardson and Ebony Harrison just finished up their second, and final, year at MSC.
“I believe the thing that sets Coach Todd apart from most coaches is his ability to relate and communicate with his players,” says Cellum. “From my observations of Coach Todd, he understands how to communicate to his teams and sets high expectations for them.”
In her time at Sulphur High School, Eldred accumulated several basketball honors and awards including: 2013 Class 3A basketball state championship, 2013 Class 3A All-Tournament Team, All-Ardmoreite Player of the Year, Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State, Lake Country Conference Co-MVP, and Oklahoma Coaches Association Region 5 Athlete of the Year. She also excelled in track and field and in the classroom.
“I'm really excited about how our team is shaping up for next season,” says Cellum. “As a coach you love to bring in student-athletes who have been successful and Bailee certainly has enjoyed much success throughout her career. She is going to have a great opportunity here to continue her success both on and off the basketball court.”
