The Texas Rangers next month will honor residents and emergency responders of a community devastated by a deadly fertilizer plant explosion.
The Rangers on July 6 host the Houston Astros and the Saturday evening game has been dubbed "City of West Night." The April 17 plant explosion in West claimed 15 lives and left about 200 people hurt.
The Rangers on Tuesday announced West Mayor Tommy Muska (MOOSHK-kuh) has been invited to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. First responders and other leaders of the town of about 2,800 will also be recognized.
The Rangers will wear a "SUPPORT WEST" patch on the right sleeves of their game jerseys. The uniforms will later be raffled to raise money for recovery in West, about 70 miles south of Fort Worth.
