Youngblood picks up 4th state title, Lady Lions get their 1st

It was a historic day for Durant High School at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club on Thursday, claiming both the individual and team state championship at the Girls 5A Golf State Tournament.

Senior Sydney Youngblood captured her fourth straight state title becoming only the third golfer in state history to accomplish such a feat, joining Altus' Megan Blonien (2009-2012) and Idabel's Lacey Jones (2001-2004).

Youngblood entered the final round with a five-stroke lead and ended the day with a 13-stroke victory. She shot a bogey-free final round, sinking birdie putts on 14 and 16 to shot a two-under 70. Youngblood finished with a two-round score of 143.

The Durant Lady Lions charged up the leaderboard on final day, erasing a four-shot deficit to begin the day to win their first state title with a score of 687. Collinsville was runner-up with a score of 703 and Duncan finished third with a 704.

The championship for Durant marks the first team title in any girls sport in Durant school history. Paige Clinton finished ninth with a 169 for the tournament.
