PUSHMATAHA COUNTY, Okla. (KXII) - Two Texoma lawmakers will hold an interim study on a hydro energy plant being proposed on the Kiamichi River.

Representatives Justin Humphrey, R-Lane, and Eddy Dempsey, R-Valliant, are conducting the study to address citizens who have expressed concerns about the project.

“Southeast Oklahoma Power Corporation (SEOPC) is alleged to have threatened over 500 landowners with eminent domain and plans to remove these landowners to complete their project,” Humphrey said. “The study will review potential effects of this project on the river, wildlife and the landowners.”

The House and Natural Resources Committee will hear from opponents of the project on Wednesday, October 30 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the state capitol.
