The family of a man who died while inside the Choctaw County Jail last year has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

According to online court records the civil lawsuit was filed against the Choctaw County Board of Commissioners.

We're told the lawsuit seeks damages in excess of $75,000.

Last October, James Legros Jr., 29, of New Hampshire was arrested by deputies for public intoxication and was placed in a holding cell by himself.

Sheriff Terry Park told us that due to his condition, a jailer was checking on him every half hour.

He was found hanging in his cell four days later.

Sheriff Park says he had only been in Choctaw County for two months working for the Carson and Barnes Circus.

No court date has been set.
