Cleaning staff finds dead infant in bathtub at motel; police investigating

MILFORD, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) - Authorities in Connecticut say a person cleaning a motel made a disturbing discovery while working on Wednesday.

The Milford Police Department said officers were called to the Mayflower Motel after cleaning staff reported finding an unresponsive infant in a bathtub.

First responders began performing CPR, but despite their efforts, the infant was pronounced dead.

Milford police identified 31-year-old Dale Kirkland as a person of interest but did not elaborate further on his connection in the case.

Kirkland was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bridgeport.

The department and the Milford State’s Attorney’s Office are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death.
